Five Feared Killed As Robbers Storm Osun Communities, Attack Banks And Police Stations (watch video)
Armed robbers in Apomu and Ikire town in Irewole and Isokan local government areas of Osun state attacked two commercial banks and police stations on Wednesday evening. The robbers were said to have entered Apomu and Ikire through Ikoyi town and divided themselves into different groups before they launched attack on the police stations and the affected banks.
9JAFOCUS reporter gathered that; No fewer than five persons have been reportedly killed while yet-to-be ascertained number of people sustained gunshots injuries when the armed robbers stormed Police stations, First Bank, Ikire and one other commercial bank located in Apomu, Osun State.
According to residents living in Apomu, who preferred anonymity, said the armed robbers had earlier robbed a bank in Apomu town around 3pm before proceeding to Ikire town where they killed three persons which includes police officers. Also, two other persons were said to have been killed in the community during the sporadic shooting by the armed robbers.
Another resident of Ikire who preferred not to be mentioned said the robbers attacked a bank near Akire’s palace, as well as Ayedaade Police Station. He said the robbers later left the town and fled after some local hunters and police operatives engaged them in a gunfight.
Confirming the incident, the Osun State Police command Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yemisi Opalola said she cannot confirm the number of casualty yet, but the Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode is already at the scene of the incident.
