Okanlawon Awards Two Vulnerable With Scholarships As NYAGGI Honors Him With Golden Role Model Award
In recognition of his tremendous contributions towards community development, Nigeria Youth Advocacy For Good Governance Initiative (NYAGGI) on Monday, 12th April, 2021 has awarded Engr Olusegun Okanlawon, the founder, Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation (OOF) a Golden Role Model Award.
Engr Okanlawon who hails from Ibarapa is known for his philanthropy gesture within and outside Oyo State through his foundation (OOF).
The event which held at Dream Wise Hotel Ibadan had in attendance National President, South West President of NYAGGI and members of the OOF.
Presenting the award to him in Ibadan the capital of Oyo State, the National President of the association, Ambassador Alabi Abiodun, acknowledged the contributions and ideas brought to Ibarapa land by Okanlawon. He also alighted his contribution to Education sector, employment to students in higher institutions, renovation of schools as some of the factors that led to the award.
Ambassador Alabi said, “We have observed your landmark achievements so far. You did not only do in Ibarapa alone, your good work surface everywhere in Oyo State and beyond. Our award is priceless, it cannot be bought by anybody, so I can authoritatively say that we give this to who truly deserves it.
Engr Olusegun Okanlawon in his response said that the betterment of his people and development of Ibarapa has been the utmost priority and that is the drive to also support good education as a means of taking the youth out of the unemployment market.
Okanlawon, who described the award as a gesture which came as surprise that he never expected.
“I never thought that some people somewhere are looking at what we have been doing which is the genesis of today’s recognition. I want to assure you that this is a motivation for us to continue from where we are, “We promise to do more in capacity building and engaging the youth positively.
“I’m not a fan of award, because many awards are being bought these days. I don’t give money to Nigeria Youth Advocacy For Good Governance Initiative (NYAGGI) before they recognized me and I’ll never give any dime for awards.
“In a way of supporting their good motive, I will be giving two Scholarships to indigent Vulnerable students for all their higher institution fee, one male and one female” He said.
