Police Arrest Woman For Allegedly Tying And Slashing Her Teenage Daughter’s Body With Razor Blade, Rub With Pepper And Kerosene
In Ekeki Area of Bayelsa State, A woman known as Richman Priye has been arrested by Police operatives attached to Ekeki Divisional Headquarters in Bayelsa state for allegedly slashing her daughter, identified as Ebimi Tokoye with a sharp razor blade.
It was gathered that the suspect, Richman Priye accused her daughter of stealing the total sum amount of 1,500 naira. According to our findings, the woman who happens to be the victim’s mother tied the little girl with a rope, locked the door and thereafter proceeded to slash every part of her body with a sharp razor blade.
The Doctor who treated the child at the Bayelsa State Police Command Hospital, located behind the ‘A’ Divisional Headquarters when contacted revealed to Our correspondent, that: “the child was brought in by the members of the Girl Child advocacy groups comprising of the Do Foundation (DF), Izon Ladies Association (ILA) and Gender Response Initiative Team (GRIT)”. The Doctor also confirmed that the girl had multiple lacerations and over 15 stitches carried out on the injuries including damage to the tendon on her feet.
The victim, Ebimi said, “My mother came back from church around 12 noon on Sunday 18th April, 2021 after church service, and accused me of stealing her N1,500 which i denied because i didn’t took the money. She refused to listen to me and started beating me, tied me with ropes inside house, lock the door and started slashing every parts of my body with razor blade. And then rubbed the cuts with pepper and kerosene”.
“After the incident lasted for about 2 hours, a neighbour who heard my cry for help came around to help me and break the door, rescued me. The concerned neighbour later called members of the Girl Child Advocacy groups who took charge of the case and my mother arrested, handed her over to the Police to prosecute”.
The President of the Do Foundation (DF), Barr. Dise Sheila Ogbise when interviewed, said that: “We condemn these rising cases and call on the members of JUSUN to quickly call off their strike action to allow the quick prosecution of this case to serve as deterrent to others engaging in this wicked acts of violence against the girl Child and children”.
