Sanwo-Olu Honors Police Officer Who Is The First Nigerian And Black African Woman To Win Gold Medal At Atlanta Olympics

The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has fulfilled a 25 year old promise to Chioma Ajunwa, the first Nigerian Gold Medalist at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Sanwo-Olu presented her the documents to a 3-bedroom flat at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Housing Estate in Iponri as a gift to motivate her and others in sporting activities on Thursday, 25th June, 2021

Sanwo-Olu disclosed this on his Facebook handle on Thursday, said “Chioma Ajunwa-Oparah (MON) set a record as the first Nigerian and Black African woman to win a gold medal at the world’s biggest sporting event and brought honour and glory to our country.

“Chioma Ajunwa who is the first Nigerian and black African Gold medalist is currently an Assistant Commissioner of Police in Nigeria Police Force and she continues to serve the country with diligence and patriotism”.
