Six killed In Ikere – Ekiti Cults Supremacy Battle

Residents of Ikere Ekiti live in fear after two cult groups battles for Supremacy in the area hacked six suspected cults members to death counting scores. In what could be described as a supremacy battle in the area between two confraternity groups, the Ekiti state police command spokesman, Asp Abutu Sunday confirmed the incident to our correspondent when contacted, the said two cultists group invaded the area last Sunday night with machetes, axe and a lots of dangerous weapons to attack themselves.

During the clash between the two cults group, a young man who happens to be a resident of that area put a distress call to the Ilupeju-Ikere Divisional Police Headquarters that “two rival cult groups were on rampage in Ikere with different dangerous weapons”. Ekiti State Police spokesman, ASP Abutu Sunday confirmed That: “The Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Ilupeju Divisional headquarters, upon receipt of the information, mobilized his men to the scene, where it was discovered that six(6) suspected members of the two confraternities were gruesomely macheted to death”.

“And the corpses of the six victims were immediately recovered and deposited in the mortuary while police have been able to arrest ten(10) suspects so far in connection to the incident. In addition to the Police Operatives earlier deployed, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP TUNDE MOBAYO has ordered the deployment of additional Patrol vehicles comprising the RRS, Safer Highway Team, S.I.B and the Anti-cultism Unit to Ikere axis in order to activate an aggressive patrol and ensure that peace is fully maintained and no further breakdown of laws and order.

Asp Abutu Sunday further stressed in the press release make available to 9jafocus, that: “The Commissioner of police, while confirming that absolute has been brought to the area with the presence of adequate Police Operatives including the Military and other Security Agencies, calls on everyone to be calm and go about their lawful businesses as the Command shall ensure that all the suspects involved are arrested and brought to book”.

The Police Boss also appeal to members of the public to volunteer information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects by contacting the nearest Police Station or call the Ekiti state command  08062335577 Control room number.
